Breaking through to press in our ever faster news cycle can be a difficult task. Before sitting down to reach out to press, take some time to think about the following:
Who is your audience?
Be specific in your outreach
Identify publications and platforms that cover your themes and represent you
Clarify Your Pitch
What is special about you?
Why should they care?
Keep it short and sweet
Write a Press Release
Who are you?
What is your offering?
Why must someone experience it?
Is there a local tie?
A personal angle?
Where and when is it happening?
Make it easy for press.
Write up a few paragraphs or even a full article.
Create a document where you interview yourself.
List the top 10 questions you get asked most frequently, and provide written answers as if you are being interviewed.
